The Canal du Midi

The Canal du Midi

Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Canal du Midi is one of the most remarkable engineering feats of the 17th century.

Designed by Pierre-Paul Riquet, it connects the Garonne River to the Mediterranean Sea and crosses the magnificent landscapes of southern France.

In Agde, the canal offers an ideal setting for walks or bike rides along its shaded banks.

The locks and barges lend a peaceful and authentic charm. It is also a privileged place to discover the region in a different way, from the water.
